The Holiday Travel Season officially opens today as 38.4 million people hit the road traveling 50 miles or more over Thanksgiving weekend. This is a 1.4% increase over last year, according to AAA. This year's expected increase in travel reflects improved consumer confidence from one year ago, due to better financial market performance and the growing sentiment that the worst of the economic crisis is behind us.
While nearly 45% of Americans plan to take a vacation in the period beginning Thanksgiving week through March 2010, the travel and hospitality industries are expected to take a hit this year thanks to rising airline rates (and those pesky fees) and the threat of the H1N1 flu virus. But car travel is still expected to continue to increase through the end of the year, especially if gas prices remain steady.
Show your customers you care by giving them the gift of roadside safety as they venture out this holiday season. Norwood offers a variety of highway safety kits at several different price points. These kits contain everything you need should you have car trouble on the road. Check out the full selection here on norwood.com.
Happy Thanksgiving & Safe Travels!
