Every year the BIC Graphic NA team looks forward to the January tradeshows for the opportunity to connect with our customers and showcase our latest products. In addition, walking the shows to see all the new items that are debuting in the promo space is inspiring and informative.
So, from retail influences to light-up tech to bright colors – here is our round up of the biggest trends we loved from the January shows.
Bags
There were obvious trends for bags when it came to both materials and styles. We noticed plenty of durable cotton, canvas and leather with a variety of imprint options. Also, functionality was key – even at smaller sizes. Fanny packs and sling packs with organizational pockets and added features were definitely trending.

Drinkware
Drinkware certainly made a colorful splash in Orlando and Vegas this year! We loved seeing campfire-style mugs in all different designs and colors to bring outdoorsy vibes for everyday use. Plus full-color imprints were all the rage on tumblers, disposable cups, sports bottles and ceramics.

Writing Instruments
Writing instruments with embellishments like fun gemstone toppers and clip-on safety lights were on full display. We saw elevated details like chrome rings down the grip, light-up imprints and heavy-weighted barrels on some unique designs that are sure to make a splash this year.

Technology
Cool and unique products made their debut in response to the continued popularity of multi-function tech items. We were impressed by the variety of portable speakers with added functions like ambient lighting or hydration reminders. The influence of retail could also be seen across the technology category with retail packaging, full color imprints and custom USBs – all to help create a great brand impression.

Outdoor
With the recent explosion in the popularity of outdoor activities, it is no surprise plenty of items suited for adventure were on display at the shows this year. Both hard-sided and soft-sided coolers showed off fun imprint capabilities like full-lid or messaging on all sides. Durable blankets in an array of sizes and colors, plus the influx of natural materials across all categories shows the growing significance of outdoor lifestyles in promo.

Meeting & Office
With leather padfolios, fun business card holders, and unique accessories, the Office and Meeting categories took it to the next level. We loved the use of unexpected materials like etched glass and bright pops of color to elevate a desk-scape.

Sustainability
As concerns over environmental issues continue to grow, it’s no surprise there was an abundance of items focused on sustainability at the shows this year. Reusable straws were shown in a variety of materials and sizes. Items in natural, sustainable materials like bamboo and silicone could also be found in almost every category.
