Back in November 2021, we offered some practical ideas for self-care routines you could add to your life. We found so many great ideas, we just had to share more!

Let’s face it – stress isn’t going away. In fact, numerous studies show that we are more stressed than ever, and many people are looking for ways to cope. According to Google Trends, the number of searches for “self-care” has more than doubled since 2015. (1) Here are a few easy ways to start prioritizing your well-being.

Get Outside

It’s no secret – spending time outdoors is good for the body, mind, and soul. Improved mood and a stronger immune system are just two of the many benefits of being in nature. (2) Exposure to sunlight, especially during the darker months of winter, can help regulate your internal clock and lead to a better night’s sleep. (3) How much time do you need to spend outdoors to see the benefits? A 2019 study suggested that just two hours a week will do the trick. That time can be a two-hour Sunday hike or shorter trips outside during the week. (4) So throw on your favorite kicks and head outside!

Say “Yay!” During the Day

It’s easy to focus on the negative when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Taking a few moments each day to recognize the positive can help shift your mindset. Studies have found that regularly expressing gratitude may help lower stress, lead to better sleep, and even bolster generosity. (5) Try this quick technique: before bedtime, write down three good things that happened to you that day, whether big or small. Do it for several weeks and see how easy it is to reap the benefits of taking time to be thankful.
